Pakistan batter Haider Ali has been cleared of rape charges in the United Kingdom after the Greater Manchester Police failed to amass sufficient evidence against him. On August 3, 2025, Haider was apprehended while serving Pakistan Shaheens during their tour of England. On the complaint filed by a British-Pakistani woman regarding the sexual assault allegedly took place at a hotel in Manchester in July 2025, Haider got arrested. The accusations received a lot of attention and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) came into the scene and suspended him until the conclusion of the investigation.
However, after a month of his arrest, Greater Manchester Police failed to get evidence against Haider Ali. As per reports from Geo Super and confirmation from the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), investigators didn’t get requisite evidence to pursue charges against the 24-year-old Pakistan middle-order batter. Eventually, CPS decided not to move ahead which eventually resulted in declaring the cricketer not guilty. Haider’s case was fought by barrister Moeen Khan. After getting acquitted of the charges, Haider has now reclaimed his passport to leave for his country.
Haider Ali’s record for Pakistan in international cricket
Haider Ali has played 37 white-ball games for Pakistan in international cricket. In T20 internationals (T20I), he has scored 505 runs in 32 innings of 35 contests at a strike rate of 124.69, while in One-Day Internationals (ODI), he has shown up in two matches.
Haider’s last international outing came in October 2023, against Afghanistan in Asian Games men’s cricket competition’s semi-final played in Hangzhou. Haider Ali also records his presence in league cricket. He has served notable teams such Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Dubai Capitals, and Jamaica Tallawahs in renowned T20 leagues. After getting acquitted of charges, the youngster will expect PCB to revoke his suspension so that he can fulfill his upcoming duties without any hassle.
