In the final league stage match of the ongoing The Hundred 2025 Men’s tournament, the Southern Brave sealed a close four-run win over Welsh Fire at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on Thursday, August 28. Coming into their final match of the season after going down by 47-run margin against London Spirit, the James Vince-led side held their nerves and ousted Welsh Fire in a nail-biting thriller.
For the unversed, the Welsh Fire won the toss and elected to bowl first. Thus inviting the Vince-led side to bat first, the Southern Brave posted 167 at the loss of seven wickets in their 100 balls, courtesy a 39-ball 70 from Jason Roy. During his stay in the middle, the England international hit 11 boundaries - six fours and five maximums at a strike rate of 179.49.

With a key knock in Southern Brave’s final match of this year’s edition, Jason Roy culminated the season with 198 runs in eight innings. He sits at 16 th place in the list of top run-getters with Oval Invincibles' Jordan Cox topping the list with 327 runs in eight innings as of date. However, the Brave and Welsh Fire - both have been eliminated from the tournament, the James Vince-led side finished at fourth spot, whereas the Welsh Fire conclude their season at the bottom-most spot.
Speaking of the tournament, with Oval Invincibles, Trent Rockets and Northern Superchargers all through the playoffs, in the Eliminator the second and third placed teams - Trent Rockets and the Superchargers respectively will take on each other on August 30 and the winner of this clash will face Oval Invincibles in the summit clash on August 31 at the Lord’s London.
