With The Hundred 2025 men’s tournament already reaching its half-stage mark, on Tuesday, August 19, Manchester Original’s skipper Phil Salt produced a brilliant one-handed stunner. In what was match number 20 of the 100-ball tournament, where Manchester Originals locked horns with Trent Rockets at the Trent Bridge, the former’s skipper stunned everyone with his fielding brilliance.
For the unversed, Trent Rockets won the toss and invited the Originals to bat first. In the 100 balls, the Salt-led side posted 98 runs at the loss of eight wickets. With 19 runs each from Phil Salt and Jos Buttler and an unbeaten 21-ball 33 from L Gregory, the side posted 98 runs. But during the run-chase, the David Willey-led Trent Rockets pulled off a comfortable seven-wicket win in just 74 deliveries.

The Phil Salt moment took place during the Trent Rockets’ run-chase at the TRent Bridge in Nottingham. As the side was chasing 99 runs off 100 balls, on the 48th ball of the second innings, Josh Tongue bowled a well-disguised slower one to Max Halden. The Rockets batter went on to drive it down the ground, but found Salt’s hand. The England wicketkeeper-batter stretched full to his right and caught the ball behind his back.
