After going down against Australia in the first two ODIs by seven wickets (via DLS method) and two wickets respectively, India are taking on Australia in the third ODI, underway at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday, October 25. While the Aussies are coming into the match hoping to register a clean sweep, the Men in Blue will be hoping to get a consolation win under their belt and end the series on a high.
For the unversed, Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh won the toss and elected to bat first. On the back of a 58-ball 56 from Matthew Renshaw and a 41-run knock at the top of the order from Mitchell Marsh, Australia posted 236 runs. The Indian bowlers came out strongly as they bundled out the home side to below 250-run score, courtesy a four-wicket haul for Harshit Rana.
Ro-Ko is back: Fans bring in excitement as duo bring their A-game in third ODI vs AUS
During the run-chase of 237, India started strongly with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill once again opening the innings. While Shubman Gill was dismissed early after scoring just 24 off 26 deliveries, Virat Kohli joined Rohit in the middle after registering two ducks. While the duo went up to score their respective half-centuries, they helped India put a fightback as the visitors inched closer to victory.
Seeing both the veterans return to form, fans could not hold back their emotions and flooded social media, dropping in reaction on the duo helping the side once again. While some expressed excitement seeing both play together after long, renowned cricket broadcaster Harsha Bhogle also took to X and wrote, “This is so much fun. #Ro-Ko”
