Two Australia women’s cricket team players were stalked and molested in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore on October 23. Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed the incident in a remark on Sunday during the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025. As per sources, the two players were walking towards a cafe at Kharjana Road, which is three km away from their hotel, on October 23 morning, when a motorcyclist on a bike committed the offence. Australian team were in Indore to take on South Africa in their final round-robin stage match.

“Cricket Australia can confirm two members of the Australian Women’s Team were approached and touched inappropriately by a motorcyclist while walking to a cafe in Indore. The matter was reported by team security to police who are handling the matter,” read Cricket Australia’s statement on the matter.

Following the incident, the players informed Australia team’s security manager, Danny Simmons, who lodged a complaint at the MIG Police Station. The police registered an FIR and also arrested the accused, Aqueel Khan under sections 74 and 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Australia concluded the round-robin stage on the top of the points tally

Australia ended the round-robin stage at the top of the points tally as they thrashed South Africa by seven wickets. Bowling first after winning the toss, Australia invited the Proteas to bat first. Alana King stepped up for the Aussie side and picked up 7/18 figures in her seven overs to bundle out South Africa on 97 in 24 overs.

The Aussie side completed the chase in 16.5 overs and ended the round-robin stage as the unbeaten side. Alana King became the player of the match (POTM) for her breathtaking bowling performance. In the semi-final on October 30, Australia will take on hosts India in Navi Mumbai.
