In the Super 4 clash of the Asia Cup 2025 against Bangladesh, former Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka hit an exemplary fifty in just 30 balls, to help his team reach a competitive total of 168/7 in their allotted 20 overs. At the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the right-handed batter scored 64 runs in just 37 balls with three fours and six maximums, not sparing the pacers or spinners of the Bangladesh cricket team.

After being put into bat first by Bangladesh in Dubai, Sri Lanka found themselves in a tricky spot at 65/3 in the 10th over when Dasun Shanaka made his way to the crease. With just 10 runs to his name in the first nine balls, the all-rounder needed to get a move on, which he just did by smashing his first six of the night on the bowling of pacer Shoriful Islam, to get his innings going at the right time for Sri Lanka.

The innings of Dasun Shanaka went into overdrive in the 15th over of the Sri Lanka when he smashed a four followed by two sixes on the bowling of spinner Nasum Ahmed, who has bowled quite well in the Asia Cup 2025. Shanaka got two back-to-back sixes off Islam in the 18th over before finishing up the Sri Lanka innings with a four and a six in the last over against Taskin Ahmed, to give them much needed momentum heading into the second half of the match.
