In the powerplay stage of the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 clash between India and Pakistan, a contentious moment happened in relation to the dismissal of Fakhar Zaman, leaving him angry in front of a big crowd at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. It was a slower delivery in the third over of the Pakistan innings from Hardik Pandya, which Fakhar Zaman tried to play within himself, only to nick it through to wicket-keeper Sanju Samson, who claimed the catch.
It led to Fakhar Zaman staying put at the crease, prompting the on-field umpires to send it up to the third umpire to decide the legitimacy of the catch from Sanju Samson. After looking at multiple replays a few times, the third umpire declared the catch from the Indian wicket-keeper a fair one, sending Fakhar Zaman on his way, but not before he didn’t like the decision one bit.

Waqar Younis, the former Pakistan cricketer and coach, wasn’t convinced about the catch in the commentary box, while Mike Hesson, the current head coach of the team, wasn’t impressed with it either. Although the dismissal of Fakhar Zaman hasn’t deterred Pakistan one bit with their batting lineup reaching 83/1 total in nine overs, thanks to a fluent partnership between Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub.
