Legendary cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has arrived in Chennai, sparking excitement among fans as the Indian Premier League 2026 season approaches. Videos of his arrival quickly spread across social media, with supporters thrilled to see their beloved “Thala” back in the city that has become synonymous with his IPL legacy.

Since joining the Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural 2008 season, Dhoni has been the heartbeat of the franchise. Under his leadership, CSK has lifted five IPL trophies, cementing its place among the most successful teams in league history. Even after retiring from international cricket in 2020, Dhoni has continued to play a key role in the IPL, contributing as a finisher, mentor, and tactical mastermind on the field.

This season carries extra intrigue for CSK supporters. With fresh squad dynamics and the presence of players like Sanju Samson strengthening the competition landscape, anticipation around Dhoni’s role and performances is at an all-time high.

According to team management, Dhoni remains part of the squad for IPL 2026, though he may not feature in every match. Reports suggest the franchise could manage his workload strategically to maintain fitness throughout the tournament. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has previously indicated that Dhoni’s presence in camp — even beyond match days — is invaluable for guiding young players and maintaining the team’s culture.

Before arriving in Chennai, Dhoni followed a long-standing personal tradition by visiting the Deori Maa Temple in Jharkhand to seek blessings ahead of the season. The ritual has become a symbolic part of his IPL preparations and is often seen by fans as a good-luck charm before the tournament begins.
