15 year-old Indian batting sensation, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made his International debut against England during the T20I series but his debut in International cricket had been underwhelming as the youngster wasn't able to score runs in the English pitches. The selection committee however, backed the youngster and gave him another chance in the T20I series against Zimbabwe where he scored a half century in his first match. In his third T20I against the hosts, the Bihar player was dismissed at an agonizing score of 81 and he missed out on his well deserved debut hundred on an International pitch.
Sooryavanshi’s knock led the team to their third match win in the series and the Men in Blue went on to win their first series under the leadership of skipper Shreyas Iyer and vice captain, Tilak Varma. For his consistency throughout the series and his match winning performance, he was awarded the Player of the Match award for the third T20I on 26 July 2026 and Player of the series for his consistent performance throughout the bilateral series. He also finished as the highest run-scorer for the series. Sooryavanshi made his debut fifty in just 19 balls in the match against Zimbabwe.
