Former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal once revealed that he didn’t get reward money after winning the T20 World Cup for Pakistan in 2009. In Pakistan’s maiden title triumph, Ajmal played an instrumental role with the ball, picking up 12 wickets in seven matches at an economy of 5.82. Appearing on Nadir Ali’s podcast, Ajmal had disclosed that he got a PKR 25 Lakh cheque from erstwhile Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani but when he strove to draw the amount, it bounced.
Saeed Ajmal said that he was stunned to witness that the government cheque can also bounce but he was told the PCB will help him get the amount but later, the board also refused to pay him. "We were given the cheques but they bounced. I was shocked that even a government cheque could bounce. We were told the PCB chief would handle it, but they also refused, saying it was the government's promise. In the end, the only money we got was from the ICC," said Ajmal.

Saeed Ajmal’s video resurfaced on social media
Saeed Ajmal’s old video is doing the rounds at a time when PCB President took the Asia Cup 2025 trophy with himself after India’s five-wicket victory over Pakistan in the final in Dubai. After hammering the Men in Green, Team India refused to receive the trophy and medals from Naqvi, who is ACC and PCB President.
Following this, Naqvi decided to take the awards back with himself. As per reports, BCCI will lodge a protest against Naqvi’s infamous act in the ACC meeting. "Our two representatives are going to raise a serious objection against the chairperson of the ACC for illegally retaining the trophy. He has no right to keep it," said BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia.
