Former Team India spinner Amit Mishra narrated an interesting incident linked to legend MS Dhoni. In June 2013, Team India outclassed England in the Champions Trophy 2025 final in Birmingham and won their second title. Dhoni’s leadership skills got appreciated as he guided the Men in Blue to a majestic win in the final by defending only 130 runs. Following the extraordinary win, Team India players not only celebrated their success on the field but also in the dressing room.
However, the celebration in the dressing room went long as players refused to hold their excitement. Noting his teammates’ activities, MS Dhoni also dropped his "Captain Cool" attitude and joined the side in the celebration. He was seen living the colossal moment exulting in joy. "After winning the Champions Trophy, nobody went to their room. After winning in England, everyone was sitting in the dressing room for 3-4 hours. Everyone was saying let's celebrate. But nobody wanted to go. Everyone started celebrating in the dressing room. We were in the dressing room for 3 to 4 hours, and everyone was happy. It was an effort of the whole team. Dhoni is a very cool captain. But he was also very happy and was enjoying that moment," Amit Mishra said to ANI.
Team India’s performance in the Champions Trophy 2013 final
In the Champions Trophy 2013 final, England won the toss and elected to field first. In the rain-curtailed game, India posted a total of 129/7 in their 20 overs. Virat Kohli’s 43 off 34 and Ravindra Jadeja’s unbeaten 33 off 25 helped India erect a fighting score in tough conditions.
Defending the total, India contained the hosts on 124/8 and bagged an intriguing five-run win. Ravichandran Ashwin and Jadeja bowled brilliant spells. Ashwin recorded 2/15 figures in his four overs while Jadeja claimed 2/15 after completing his four-over spell. Jadeja’s magnificent all-round show got him the player of the match (POTM) award.
