2025 witnessed Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announce their Test retirement. The legendary duo announced their retirements just before the England tour. Two players who are Giants of Indian cricket and dominated for more than a decade hung up their boots in red ball cricket. Fans were very emotional. Both of them announced their retirements via Instagram post.

"Hello everyone, I would like to share that I am retiring from Test cricket," Rohit posted on his Instagram story. "It's been an absolute honour to represent my country in whites. Thank you for all the love and support over the years. I will continue to represent India in the ODI format." He added

Rohit Sharma scored 4301 runs at an average of 40.57, with 12 centuries having played 67 Tests. He captained Team India for three years after he took over from Virat Kohli in 2022. He won 12 of his 24 Tests as Indian Test captain.

Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket just before India’s five-Test tour of England. Kohli finished his career as fourth highest Test run-scorer for India and called time on his 14-year Test career via Instagram. “It’s been 14 years since I first wore the baggy blue in Test cricket. Honestly, I never imagined the journey this format would take me on. It’s tested me, shaped me, and taught me lessons I’ll carry for life” Kohli said.

“There’s something deeply personal about playing in whites. The quiet grind, the long days, the small moments that no one sees but that stay with you forever” he added on his retirement post. Kohli finished his Test career with 9230 runs at 46.85 from 123 Tests. He was Indian Test captain from 2014 to 2022, winning 40 of his 68 Tests as skipped to become India’s most successful skipper in the format. 2025 saw two of India’s most loved cricketers announce their retirements and fans paid tribute from all over the world.
