Every year, IPL turns into a breakthrough season for at least 3 to 5 players across India. Players who weren't even part of their state teams start sharing the same dressing rooms with veterans like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. We dived into the talent pool of the MI 2026 squad, and here are our predictions for MI’s campaign for their sixth IPL title.

Naman Dhir

Mumbai Indians’ core retention from 2025, Naman Dhir, has been a standout player for the franchise in their last campaign. In the MI vs DC do-or-die clash at Wankhede, the right-handed batter scored a fast 24 off 8 balls and MI reach a team total of 180. He also scored 37 off 18 balls in the knockout match against Punjab Kings to set up a massive target of 205 batting against their key bowlers, Azmatullah Omarzai and Arshdeep Singh. He ended the season at an average of 31.50 with an impressive strike rate of 180.61. Dhir was retained at ₹5.25 crore for the 2026 season. Naman Dhir can be MI’s breakout all-rounder for 2026, just like Hardik Pandya in 2015.

Danish Malewar

The 22-year-old Vidarbha player caught the attention of MI selectors with his dream season in the Duleep Trophy by scoring 1262 runs in the tournament, averaging 49.42 with his highest being 203*. He scored a double century against the North East Zone. Danish is a top-order batsman who can address MI's opening struggles since Ishan Kishan’s departure in 2024. Danish, however, has been untested in T20s due to his exclusion from the SMAT Vidarbha team following an injury post a Ranji Trophy match. A budget buy at the base price of ₹30 lakh, Danish can be a backup opener for the Mumbai Indians’ 2026 campaign.

Mohammad Izhar

Left-arm medium fast bowler from Bihar, Mohammad Izhar, made headlines with his SMAT performance in 2025 by bowling at an economy of 7.11. The 22-year-old player took 9 wickets in just 5 matches, with his best figures of 4/39 against Madhya Pradesh. Picked up at a base price of ₹30 lakh, Izhar could help resolve Mumbai Indians’ over-reliance on Jasprit Bumrah and become a strong backup to address the lack of Indian bowling options.

With a balanced playing XI of bowling depth and good Indian options, without over-reliance on overseas players, MI could have a dream run in their 2026 title-winning campaign.
