Pakistan recently lost an ODI series against West Indies by 2-1. It was a disappointing show by the Pakistani batters as they failed to keep up with the momentum after taking a 1-0 lead. Pakistan also didn’t have a great outing in the ODI format in recent times as they were knocked out from the group stage in the Champions Trophy 2025 and suffered 0-3 white-wash in a series against New Zealand.

One of the star players from Pakistan who isn’t looking in great touch with the bat is Babar Azam. The right-hander was also snubbed from the squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. It’s looking like the Pakistan Cricket Board is moving on from senior players like Babar and Mohammad Rizwan. With the next ODI World Cup scheduled to take place after two years, it will be interesting to see which players can be seen in Pakistan’s 50-over line-up replacing Babar.

Players who can replace Babar Azam in ODI

Kamran Ghulam

Kamran Ghulam can turn out among top choices to replace Babar Azam in Pakistan’s ODI setup and has been impressive with his bat several times. He came as a replacement for Babar during the home Test series against England last year and ended up hitting a century in his debut Test for Pakistan. Talking about his ODI records, Kamran has also looked decent in the 50-over format for Pakistan amassing 210 runs from 11 matches at an average of 30 and a strike rate of 99.05. He can turn out to be an ideal replacement for Babar in the 50-over format for Pakistan.

He ended up being the highest run getter for Pakistan in his debut ODI series amassing 112 runs at an average of 112 and a strike rate of 90.32. The 23-year-old looked promising in his maiden ODI series and can be a great choice to replace Babar Azam in Pakistan’s 50-over setup in future.

Sahibzada Farhan

sahibzada farhan

Sahibzada Farhan can be another big name who can replace Babar Azam in Pakistan’s ODI setup. Farhan is yet to make his ODI debut for Pakistan but has a great record in his List A career amassing 2926 runs from 72 matches so far at an average of 41.80. Farhan has been a constant run scorer in domestic cricket over the years and it could be a right time for the Pakistan Cricket team to give him a ODI call-up soon if they are planning to replace Babar Azam in the 50-over format.
