Batting for West Delhi Lions against New Delhi Tigers, the young right-hander smashed a back-foot punch that raced to the boundary for four and it was pretty much similar to the signature stroke of Virender Sehwag. The video of the shot quickly went viral on social media. Delhi Premier League officials shared the clip with a simple caption: “Some batting traits are inherited. Aaryavir’s finesse is just like his father’s!”
Aaryavir finished the innings with a quick fire 22 off 14 balls and his shots and balance drew immediate comparisons with Virender Sehwag’s peak years with even former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh commenting on the post. West Delhi Strikers beat New Delhi Tigers in a thriller
New Delhi Tigers elected to bat first in the 35th match of the Delhi Premier League 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and posted a competitive 195 for six in 20 overs. The innings began poorly as the Tigers slipped to 63 for four. Himmat Singh (35 off 20) and Keshav Dalal (36 off 22) then anchored the innings with a 48-run stand for the fifth wicket. The real acceleration came at the death when Parth Bali remained unbeaten on 35 from just 13 balls while Manish Sehrawat smashed 30 not out off eight deliveries including five sixes. Their unbroken 57-run partnership for the seventh wicket lifted the Tigers close to the 200-run mark and set West Delhi Lions a stiff target of 196.
In reply, the Lions made a positive start. Openers Krish Yadav and Aaryavir Sehwag put on 41 runs for the first wicket. Sehwag scored 22 off 14 balls before being dismissed, but the momentum stayed with the chasing side. Nitish Rana then took charge, smashing a quickfire 50 off only 23 deliveries that kept the required rate under control and put pressure on the bowlers. Captain Ayush Doseja took responsibility and finished unbeaten on 64 from 33 balls. West Delhi Lions chased the target comfortably in 19.2 overs, finishing on 201 for four to seal a six-wicket victory.
