Search engine giant Google on Friday released its year ender report and unveiled the data outlining what the world searched the most in 2025. Interestingly, an Indian cricketer from Punjab topped Google’s most searched athlete in Pakistan. The name of the athlete is Abhishek Sharma, Team India star batter. Abhishek Sharma who hails from Amritsar (Punjab) has dominated the cricketing world in the last few years. Abhishek Sharma is ranked ICC T20 World Number 1 batter and also has played multiple match winning knocks that helped has helped India to secure victory. Abhishek will be in action for India in the upcoming T20I series against South Africa which starts on 9th December.

India defeated Pakistan in 3 out of 3 matches in Asia Cup 2025 that took place in Dubai. In 2 out of those 3 matches, Abhishek Sharma’s blistering start gave India an edge over Pakistan and ultimately India emerged victorious winning the Asia Cup 2025. Abhishek Sharma took Pakistan spearhead pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi to cleaners in both matches. He became one of the hot topics during the Asia Cup in Pakistan who might not have known much about him prior to that tournament.
In fact, Abhishek Sharma was adjudged player of the tournament during Asia Cup 2025. Asia Cup 2025 grabbed millions of eyeballs as it was the first time India and Pakistan played each other three times in the same tournament. Abhishek also got into a spat with Haris Rauf and the umpires had to intervene. After winning the player of the match against Pakistan, Abhishek Sharma said “felt today was the day to bring out such a performance. Personally, I didn’t like how they were making personal attacks after every ball. I felt it was important to give an answer to them”. Abhishek Sharma did extremely well in the Asia Cup and was one of the most talked about player in social media with fans being impressed with his aggressive approach.
