Abhishek Sharma has made a statement on the opening night of the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League by smashing a quick fire half century. He is leading Amritsar Soormas and has started the season with his aggressive batting that has become his trademark. Playing against Mohali Kings at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, Abhishek smashed 77 off just 26 balls. His knock included six fours and seven sixes and he scored at a strike rate of 296. He was eventually caught by R Devgan off Harpreet, but by then Amritsar Soormas had already scored 142 for 2 and the left hander had already given the home crowd plenty to cheer with that knock.

He has been aggressive in the IPL and for India and he brought the same intent to the Sher E Punjab tournament. His innings set the tone for his side in their opening match. Abhishek has been out of form in the last few series and came into this tournament with a lot of expectations. He has made a great start to the campaign and will be looking to have a great season.
