The White Ferns were off to a shaky start in the innings as both their openers couldn’t contribute much with the bat. Then came in Amelia Kerr at number 3, and she began to find boundaries with ease. She was in fine form going into the match, and if this total was to be chased, it would depend on her batting. She shouldered the responsibility of her side and scored a sensational 179 off just 139 balls, including 23 fours and a six, at a strike rate of 128. She stitched a wonderful partnership along with Isabella Gaze, scoring 120 runs in just 82 balls. New Zealand required 11 runs to win off the last over with 2 wickets in hand. Amelia Kerr finished off the innings in 4 balls and secured the victory for her side with ease.
This match will go down in history as one of the most entertaining matches in the history of Women’s cricket, and this match had a total of 696 runs in 99.4 overs. This terrific chase by the White Ferns has become the highest successful run chase in Women’s ODI history.
