So, you know, hopefully I'll get a chance, you know, to meet with him in person and play some tennis, play some cricket. It'll be nice. And I'm also planning to come to India soon, so maybe that's where we get a link up," stated Novak Djokovic on Virat Kohli. Djokovic set for iconic meeting with Kohli in India
The Grand Slam champion expressed a strong desire to visit India and to spend some time with Virat Kohli. Djokovic seemed like he was excited to talk about the cricketer and he even stated that they admire each other. Considering that they are good friends, he also wishes to play some cricket and tennis together. This crossover could possibly break the internet as both the players are the greats of the game and a meet-up between the two would be iconic.
Djokovic is currently chasing history at Wimbledon, aiming for an 8th title to equal Roger Federer’s record and a 25th overall Grand Slam. This would elevate his position in tennis history as the most successful singles player in tennis history. He is already considered as one of the greats in the game and he was a key part of the trio of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic’s. The Serbian’s campaign is all set to commence on Monday, June 29, against China's Y.B. Wu. and Djokovic would be hoping to go long in the tournament unlike the French Open.
Virat Kohli will be coming off another dream run with RCB in the IPL with the back-to-back title victories. He has been in good batting rhythm in recent times and he will be hoping to carry the momentum onto the international stage as well. Having retired from Test cricket and T20I cricket, Kohli will be looking to end his ODI career on a high. Returning back to international duties, the veteran batsman will feature exclusively in the ODI format for India after being ruled out with an injury in the series against Afghanistan. The three-match ODI series in England starting July 14 would be key to India’s preparation ahead of the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup.
Novak Djokovic’s statement regarding Virat Kohli would have pleased the fans due to the international recognition from one of the best tennis players in the history of the game. Now, the fans will be looking forward to the moment where Virat Kohli and Novak Djokovic could share the stage and it doesn’t seem to be much far off.
