In the widely competitive and dynamic world of the famous Indian Premier League, there are always some tricky moments where sudden decision making becomes necessary or the order of the day. And at times, such decisions can sting even those well versed and well acquainted with the norms and regulations as carried out by law. Then if that means having some sort of an impact on the mighty sides of the league, then so be it. The laws has to have its way, and cannot be done away with.
So that leaves us with the big question of the moment.
What sudden ruling of the law has come to sting certain IPL sides and why?
Well, apparently as it turns out the National Green Tribunal, also known as the NGT, no fewer than 6 Cricket stadiums have been served notices with respect to them having to answer certain activities on the ground for which there’s no sufficient answers (provided as of now). But having said that, let’s delve deeper into the matter!
The ruling of the court (the National Green Tribunal) has very clearly asked the 6 cricket stadiums that are at present hosting IPL contests on why activities at their premises should not be stopped when the grounds haven’t yet answered on a very pertinent matter: the matter about the source of water that is used to maintain the pitch as well as maintain the ground.
Until recently, the NGT had been hearing a plea against the use of groundwater or fresh water as against the usage of sewage treated water (or water from the STP).

Now here is where it gets interesting
The very same plea that’s being talked about above also has it that neither of the six cricket stadium grounds have installed rainwater harvesting systems for groundwater storage. The installation of the same is also necessitated - but hasn’t yet happened- for groundwater discharge and restoration.
If that is not a clear case of violation of the norms in terms of what it it ought to be, then what is it? How does one describe it?
Let’s look at which stadiums have been served the notice by the NGT
These aren’t just cricket grounds used for international contests, rather household names of sorts all thanks to premier franchise based league events such as the Indian Premier Leafue.
The grounds in question are- Arun Jaitley Stadium (Delhi), Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium (Raipur), Sawai Mansingh Stadium (Jaipur), Dr DY Patil Stadium (Mumbai), Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium (Lucknow) and Barabati Stadium (Cuttack).
Moving on
Four of these grounds at this moment are hosting contests in the Indian Premier League including - the Delhi stadium with the others being in Raipur, Jaipur and Lucknow.
Chances are, the concerned authorities connected to these grounds will now pull up their socks and act in accordance with the law. It’s urgent, more than ever.
