Amit Mishra retired from all forms of cricket on September 4, 2025. The leg-spinner is a renowned name in domestic cricket and the Indian Premier league (IPL). In 2000, he broke into domestic cricket for Haryana and after three years, he also made his international debut for Team India in the One-Day International (ODI) contest played against South Africa in April 2003. However, after playing three 50-over games in the Bangladesh tri-series in 2003, he didn’t get a chance for India in international cricket for the next five years. In 2008, when Australia toured India for four Tests, he was handed his red-ball debut in Mohali.
In India’s massive 320-run win, he shone with the ball and picked up seven wickets. In the first innings, he also grabbed a fifer. After the scintillating triumph in Mohali, India beat the visitors in Nagpur and claimed a 2-0 win. Mishra made a crucial contribution of 14 wickets after appearing in three games. Amit Mishra’s international records
Amit Mishra played 22 Tests for Team India from 2008 to 2016 and during this period, he grabbed 76 wickets in 40 innings. Discussing his ODI numbers, he claimed 64 wickets in 36 outings at an economy of 4.72. In T20 Internationals (T20I), he got 10 matches and got 16 wickets at an economy of 6.31. His last international appearance came in a T20I match against England at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in February 2017.

Amit Mishra’s domestic records
Amit Mishra played more than 550 games in his domestic career. He is the third-highest wicket-taker for Haryana in first-class cricket, with 224 scalps in 111 innings of 68 matches. In T20s, he is their leading wicket-taker, bagging 87 wickets in 72 innings of 75 outings.

Amit Mishra’s IPL numbers
Amit Mishra played for four teams during his IPL career which spanned from 2008 to 2024. He started his journey with Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2008, then called Delhi Daredevils (DD). In the inaugural season, he claimed a hat-trick for Delhi against Deccan Chargers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium (then Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium). After three years, he became part of Chargers and grabbed another hat-trick. This time, he mauled the scalps of Ryan McLaren, Mandeep Singh, and Ryan Harris to register the second hat-trick to his name.
He also spearheaded SRH’s spin bowling unit in IPL 2013 and 2014 editions. In 2013, he broke into the record books for bagging three hat-tricks in the league. He is the only bowler to do so in the mega T20 tournament. Donning SRH colours against Pune Warriors India, he got the better of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rahul Sharma and Ashok Dinda.

His last IPL appearance came in 2024 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). In the cash-rich league, Mishra played 162 matches and amassed 174 wickets to his profile, at an economy of 7.37.
