The 21-year-old suffered a concussion and a finger fracture on his left hand during a match against the Mumbai Indians.

The injury occurred during KKR’s victory over the Mumbai Indians. During the 11th over of Mumbai's innings, Tilak Varma skied a shot off Varun Chakaravarthy. Raghuvanshi and Chakaravarthy both ran toward the ball and collided mid-air while attempting to take the catch. Raghuvanshi was immediately taken off the field and replaced by Tejasvi Singh Dahiya as a concussion substitute. Dahiya managed a slow 11 off 12 balls. KKR must now decide whether to hand Dahiya his full starting debut under immense pressure or drastically reshuffle their overseas/domestic balance to find alternative keeping options.

Shane Watson opens up on Angkrish Raghuvanshi's finger injury in post match conference

Speaking at the post-match press conference following Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) 4-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians, assistant coach Shane Watson provided the official and precise medical details behind the Kolkata Knight Riders decision to substitute Angkrish Raghuvanshi mid-game. “Angkrish, unfortunately, ran a long way to be able to try and get that catch. And unfortunately, the collision that he had with Varun Chakravarthy meant that he ended up having some neck pain, a bit of dizziness and a bit of a headache within a couple of overs of that as well,” Watson said.

This injury is a heartbreaking setback for Angkrish Raghuvanshi, bringing an abrupt end to what was turning out to be his breakout season in the IPL. Raghuvanshi was arguably the biggest revelation for KKR in IPL 2026. Amassing 422 runs in 13 matches at an average of 42.20, he was firmly in the race for the Emerging Player of the Season award. Fracturing his left hand and suffering a concussion completely stalls the incredible momentum he had built on the global stage. On the positive side, Raghuvanshi has done enough this season to secure his future. He has proved to the KKR management that he is a reliable top-order batsman and a capable wicketkeeper. When IPL 2027 comes around, he will no longer be an untested youngster trying to break into the team; he will enter the tournament as a core, established player for the franchise.
