Rahul Dravid, often known as the wall of cricket, has been an inspiration to millions of cricket fans. He was a gritty batter and someone who always stood up to the pressure and delivered more often than not. He had made a name for himself and had a legendary status by the time he bid goodbye to the game. Now as the upcoming generation comes in, another Dravid is set to represent India. Anvay Dravid, the younger son of former India captain and legendary batsman Rahul Dravid, has been named in the India Under-19 squad for the upcoming One-Day series against Sri Lanka next month.

The Junior Cricket Selection Committee, led by chairman Sharath Sridharan, officially announced the white-ball and red-ball squads on Thursday for the bilateral series. The tour will have three One-Day fixtures and two multi-day matches and will commence on July 4, 2026 in Hambantota.

Anvay Dravid rewarded for consistent performances

Anvay Dravid has captained the Karnataka Under-19 team to the quarter-finals. Anvay accumulated 220 runs across six innings batting in the middle order and showed his composure in many high-pressure situations. Samit Dravid was also initially picked up in the squad but due to injury he could not feature.

Anvay is a wicketkeeper-batter and will be looking to make a mark. The 17-year-old right-handed batter will feature exclusively in the 15-member white-ball squad as one of the two wicketkeepers. Yashbhardan Singh Chauhan will lead the side.
