The critical 51st match of IPL 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium transformed into a tactical stranglehold for the Kolkata Knight Riders spin unit, culminating in a jaw-dropping fielding effort by Anukul Roy to dismiss Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel. Running in from deep midwicket towards deep square leg, Roy lunged to his left to grab a low, one-handed ball just inches off the turf. Axar Patel miscued a pull shot off a short delivery from Kolkata Knight Riders bowler Vaibhav Arora in the 19th over. The Delhi Capitals skipper departed for a sluggish 11 runs off 22 deliveries, epitomising Delhi's batting issues on a slow surface.

Roy had already done damage with the ball, breaking the innings apart in the 11th over with a double-strike that dismissed Pathum Nissanka and Tristan Stubbs. Following Roy's breakthroughs, KKR spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy choked the run flow, restricting Delhi to a crawling 98/5 by the 15th over. Despite the collapse, lower-order batsman Ashutosh Sharma provided a late, explosive spark for Delhi. He launched a counter-offensive, smashing 39 runs off 27 balls, including two consecutive boundaries off an injured Varun Chakaravarthy to drag Delhi Capitals to a fighting total of 140/8 by the end of the 20 overs.

Delhi Capitals put up disappointing performance against KKR bowlers

Delhi Capitals slumped to a disappointing 142/8 as the Kolkata Knight Riders bowling unit systematically dismantled their batting lineup during Match 51 of IPL 2026. Despite playing on their home turf at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, DC's top and middle-order collapsed completely under relentless spin pressure. Anukul Roy broke the back of the innings by dismissing both the set Nissanka and danger-man Tristan Stubbs (2) in the 11th over.

Skipper Axar Patel endured a painful stay, craling to 11 runs off 22 balls at a strike rate of 50.00 without hitting a single boundary. The KKR spin trio applied a massive squeeze during the middle overs, giving away only 18 runs over a crucial 5-over stretch. Delhi only crossed the 140-mark due to a late counter-attack by Ashutosh Sharma, who smashed 39 runs off 28 balls before getting caught in the final over.
