After a long period of rain interruption, the ODI between India and Afghanistan has finally begun with the Indian bowlers dominating the powerplay. Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar were entrusted with the duty to begin the innings and they did a brilliant job with the new ball. Gurnoor Brar took the first wicket of the game in his debut over for India by dismissing Ibrahim Zadran. Arshdeep Singh did the rest with the ball as he cleaned up Sediqullah Atal and Rahmat Shah in two of his successive overs. India are absolutely on top of the game at the moment and with the game being just 25 overs a side, Afghanistan will be in a spot of bother.

Afghanistan’s batting unit has been influenced by the massive reduction in the overs and they are trying to break the shackles a bit too quickly. The lack of time taken to get set in the crease has cost them dearly with just Rahmanullah Gurbaz holding his ground. Gurbaz has scored a couple of good looking shots and he seems to be well and truly set. A fightback from here would be difficult but Gurbaz could change the course of the game in no time with the kind of innings he can play for the side.

Fans praise India’s fiery new-ball spell against Afghanistan

The viewers on X have been all praises for the bowling of the Indian pace duo of Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar. India have been off to a strong start and they will be looking to pick a couple more in the next few overs. Here are some of the reactions on X:

India have picked 3 big wickets early on but the most important wicket that they are yet to pick is that of Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Afghanistan will be keen on the duo of Rahmanhullah Gurbaz and Hashmatullah Shahidi carrying on with their partnership for at least 5-10 overs.
