Axar Patel has captained the Gujarat side in the domestic format and he captained for two Ranji Trophy matches in 2016-17, before leading Gujarat in the 2017-18 and 2020-21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In both seasons, they exited at the group stage. Overall, he has a record of 10 wins in 24 matches in the domestic circuit.
