Bangladesh produced a stunning nine-wicket victory over Australia in the first Test at Darwin, securing their first-ever Test win on Australian soil. The Tigers dominated across all four days. Australia were bowled out for 198 in their first innings, while Bangladesh responded with 426 to establish a massive 228-run lead. Tanzid Hasan’s historic 101 and Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s valuable 65 powered the visitors’ impressive total. Australia showed some resistance through Cameron Green’s 104 in the second innings. However, Mehidy’s five-wicket haul and Hasan Mahmud’s outstanding match figures of 9/111 restricted the hosts to 284. Bangladesh needed only 57 runs and reached the target for the loss of one wicket.

The historic result sparked huge reactions across X and cricket communities. Bangladesh supporters celebrated what many described as one of the proudest moments in the country’s Test history. Fans praised the team’s all-round performance and particularly highlighted Hasan Mahmud’s match-winning spell. Neutral supporters also applauded Bangladesh for competing fearlessly against Australia in their own conditions. Australian fans expressed disappointment at the home side’s collapse, while discussions quickly turned towards selection and rebuilding. The overwhelming sentiment was that Bangladesh had thoroughly deserved the victory after controlling almost every major phase of the contest.

“We gave it our all every single second”: Hasan Mahmud reveals secret behind Bangladesh’s historic Australia win

Hasan Mahmud credited Bangladesh’s meticulous preparation and disciplined execution after his match-winning performance against Australia in Darwin. The fast-bowling sensation claimed nine wickets across the Test, including six in the first innings, as Bangladesh secured a historic nine-wicket victory.

Speaking about the team’s preparation, the Player of the Match said, “We gave it our all every single second during our pre-match practice sessions, keeping a clear mindset to trust our process and focus on the execution rather than the end result. We were fully prepared to grind it out over all five days, knowing the results would naturally follow.” His approach reflected the patience that helped Bangladesh dominate Australia throughout the contest.

The accomplished pacer also explained how Bangladesh handled the conditions and executed their plans against Australia’s formidable batting line-up. “Although we had specific team plans mapped out with the coaches and analysts after studying video footage, executing those plans consistently out on the field was what made the difference,” he said.

He added, “Bowling first on a grassy pitch still required immense patience and persistence, it was all about sticking to disciplined lines and lengths, delivery after delivery.” The emotional victory also carried special significance for him personally. “Back home in Bangladesh, my family, friends, and hometown community will be thrilled seeing me back in the bowling rotation and performing well. I know they will be celebrating this moment, and that means everything to me,” the talented seamer said.
