There's this exuberant list of most successful run-makers paritcularly when one speaks of the Asia Cup's T20I format, undoubtedly the shortest format of the Asia Cup contests. And quite frankly, this list has become very relevant even more in the current context of the game as the Asia Cup 2025 (which is a T20 format) nears us, whether we see it on our hand held gadgets or on live TV or in the action packed stadia.
This list, however, also includes those Asian cricketers, batters, to be specific, whose very name may bring a sense of emotion and generate some memories, particularly because of the fact that some of them no longer play international T20 cricket for their country. But again - the list of Most runs in Asia Cup T20I contests is a decorated one and besides the emotion-fuelled cricketers on it, it also brings to focus on some of the unsung albeit finest strikers of the cricket ball in T20I format, some of them hailing from lesser appreciated teams.

Virat Kohli - A giant of the T20I format of Asia Cup
There are those giants of the game whose mere shadow lifts the morale and inspires the confidence of the entire team - Virat Kohli is one such player. A mega player. Three years ago, Kohli scored a fantastic 122 against Afghanistan in a fine contest played at Dubai in Asia Cup's T20 contest, a game that simply blew the Afghans away.
He was dominant, at his best and played with the charisma that one associates with a matchwinner that he has mostly been, all his life. In the T20I Asia Cup contests, he made 429 runs and would have made a few more had he stayed on for India in the format.
The resIlience of Mohammad Rizwan
How Pakistan are going to miss Mohammad Rizwan in this particular edition's Asia Cup in 2025, is a subject on which one could go on and on and write a thesis. He's been a fearless and comprehensive scorer in the game's shortest format and where it comes to the T20I format games in Asia Cup, then Rizwan, a stylish right hander, has compiled 281 runs from just six matches. These are fine numbers particularly when you think of his Asia Cup T20I average - it being 56.
Rohit Sharma - The Hitman in Asia Cup
The great Rohit Sharma, better known as the Hitman of international cricket, also has a great record - but - where it comes to overall Asia Cup contests. He has struck 40 sixes, on the whole. But given his retirement from the format, he won't be seen playing this particular edition of the Asia Cup 2025.
He will be truly missed and has already scored 271 runs from nine Asia Cup T20I contests.
Would have scored so many, now that his fitness concerns are anything but a matter of the present-day, don't you think? The former captain who helped India win the T20 World Cup has been a great resource in the game's fastest template.
Babar Hayat - The meaning of stoicism in Hong Kong cricket
Here is actually a cricketer we don't tend to read a lot about, or do we? The dominant Hong Kong batter, who is currently 33 years of age, has already compiled north of 2200 T20I runs, 2216, to be precise. He is originally from Pakistan but moved to Hong Kong and has for quite some time now become a pillar of HK international batting.
Most recently, Hayat struck a vital fifty against Singapore and has already compiled his T20I runs (overall) at a respectable average of over 28, with there being not one but two T20I tons in the format that's considered cricket's most exciting. Where it comes to Asia Cup, then he has hit a great score of 122 that came against Oman off 60 odd deliveries. If that's not a great knock, then what is?
The fire of Ibrahim Zadran
Several of Afghanistan's cricketers are so often scaling milestones, aren't they? Now, Ibrahim Zadran, who is no stranger to hitting quality runs and those being in great pace, needs to hit a boundary or simply collect four singles, however you see it, to complete 200 T20I runs in Asia Cup's briefest format. He currently has 196 of those. Zadran is also among the most strikingly good looking batters and can score freely for his country.
