
BCCI has announced a massive INR 131 crore cash reward for the Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India for winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 by defeating New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Notably, India scripts history with this title by becoming the first-ever team to win the T20 World Cup thrice and back-to-back as well.
BCCI announces ₹131 crore cash reward for Team India after T20 World Cup 2026 win
On Sunday, 8 March 2026, India defeated New Zealand by a massive 96 runs in the final of the T20 World Cup to light the title for the third time. With this, India also becomes the only team to defend their title.
Led by Suryakumar, the team has been consistent throughout the tournament and lost just one game in the Super 8. Now the BCCI has declared an INR 131 crore cash reward for the team.
“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of INR 131 crore for Team India following their triumphant campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The Board congratulates the players, support staff, and selectors once again on this historic achievement and wishes them continued success in the future,” the BCCI said in their statement.
The team also received the cash prize for becoming the champions from the International Cricket Council (ICC) of US $2.34 million, which is approximately 21.3 crore in INR.
Sanju Samson becomes the Player of the Tournament with 321 runs in 5 matches with an average of 80.25. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah finished as the joint highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 14 wickets in 8 matches. Varun Chakravarthy also picked up 14 wickets and maintained an average of 20.50. Other players also made crucial contributions throughout the tournament, including Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube, and Axar Patel, who all played important roles in the team’s overall performance.
After losing the 2023 Cricket World Cup, India has dominated the whole cricketing world. After that, the Rohit Sharma-led team lifts the 2024 T20 World Cup trophy and the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, and now Suryakumar’s young team India defends the T20 World Cup title at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
