BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia who has emerged as one of the most influential Indian voices in global cricket administration has been handed two important responsibilities by the ICC. During the governing body’s Annual Conference in Edinburgh, Saikia was appointed chairman of the newly formed Governance Review Committee. Devajit Saikia’s second role puts him on the Franchise Leagues Committee alongside ECB CEO Richard Gould, Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg, and Cricket Namibia’s Dr Rudie van Vuuren. With franchise leagues taking up more and more space in the international calendar, the panel is expected to tackle issues around scheduling, player workload, and the balance between bilateral cricket and T20 leagues.
