Ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Belgium has named their 26-man squad and some of the veterans have been included in the squad. They have been included in Group G with the other teams being Egypt, Iran and New Zealand. The Belgium Coach Rudi Garcia will probably head into the World Cup for the last time with some of their best players like Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku. Thomas Meunier has also been called up and he could fit right into the defensive setup. It seems like they are the favourites to qualify from the group and their real test could unfold from the knockout stages unless they are eliminated early in the tournament.

Belgium had a very disappointing campaign in the 2022 edition of the FIFA World Cup as the standards they had set in the previous edition was one that most teams feared. They weren’t drawn into the most competitive of groups as it contained Croatia, Morocco and Canada. They started on a positive note with a win in their first game against Canada but they went on to lose their next game against Morocco by 2 goals. They had to win their game against Croatia to stay alive in the competition but they ended up conceding a draw. They finished 3rd in the Group and they had to bid farewell before qualifying for the knockouts.

All eyes will be on Kevin de Bruyne as he will be playing his last World Cup and he will be hoping to finish on a high. There are several other veterans in the side who will be determined to get the job done for the country and they will be hoping to avenge their early exit in the previous tournament. They could also have the advantage of experience as most of the players in the squad will know what it feels like to play for the nation at this stage. Rudi Garcia and his men will be hoping that they can finish on a high in this tournament unlike their campaign in Qatar in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
