India women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana has officially confirmed that her wedding with music composer Palaash Muchhal has been called off. The left-handed opener issued a public statement through her Instagram Story on Sunday, putting an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the status of their relationship.

In her note, Mandhana expressed that she is a private individual and felt compelled to address the matter only because rumours had intensified recently. She clarified firmly that the wedding will not take place and urged fans, media, and the public to refrain from further speculation.

“Over the past few weeks there has been plenty of speculation around my life and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and would like to keep it that way but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off,” she wrote.

Mandhana emphasised the importance of maintaining dignity and requested respect for the privacy of both families during this period.

“I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same. I request you to please respect the privacy of both families at this time and allow us the space to process and move on at our own pace,” she added.

The 29-year-old further stated that her priority remains cricket and representing India at the highest level.

“I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all and for me that has always been representing my country. I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible and that is where my focus will forever be. Thank you for all your support. It’s time to move forward.”

The message has received widespread support from fans, teammates and former cricketers, who applauded her maturity and strength.

Mandhana, one of the biggest icons in women’s cricket, is currently preparing for India’s upcoming international assignments. With an exceptional record across formats and massive fan following, she remains a central pillar of the national team.

As she stated, her focus now returns fully to cricket — and the sporting world will be watching her next steps closely.
