The catch was so outstanding that Irfan Pathan described it as the “best catch of the World Cup” as of now in the commentary box. Notably, Zimbabwe defeated Oman by 8 wickets to kick off their campaign with a win in Colombo.

On the fifth ball of the T20 World Cup 2026, Oman batter Nedeem Khan came out of the crease and hit the ball towards the deep midwicket, and Brian Benner covered almost 15 meters and caught the ball with a full stretch dive while in the air. The catch was so outstanding that even commentator Irfan Pathan called it the “Catch of the World Cup” as of now.
