The Chennai Super Kings have been handed a major boost ahead of their clash against the Delhi Capitals, as Dewald Brevis is all set to feature for the first time this season. The Proteas star missed the initial 3 games due to a side strain, and now, he will be back in the side. The Chennai fans will be happy to know about the return of Dewald Brevis to the side, as CSK are yet to win a game in this edition of the Indian Premier League.

Chennai has a formidable batting unit, but the lack of form in the top order is an area of concern for the side and the addition of Dewald Brevis to the middle order will surely give the top-order a bit more confidence to play freely. CSK has missed the presence of Brevis in their squad, as he could have handed them a couple more solid finishes in the previous matches.

Dewald Brevis’ explosive middle-order presence set to strengthen CSK’s batting depth

The Chennai Super Kings kicked off their campaign against the Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati, and their lack of quality in batting was visibly exposed. They lost 5 wickets for just 51 runs while batting first on a pitch where batting wasn’t all that difficult. Their middle order is relatively inexperienced in the IPL, with the likes of Prashant Veer, Kartik Sharma and Sarfaraz Khan. CSK doesn’t have a formidable batter among the foreigners, and Dewald Brevis would be the only fit for that tag.

Dewald Brevis scored 225 runs from 6 innings at a strike rate of 180, and he averaged more than 37 despite coming down the order. With the addition of Dewald Brevis to the squad, CSK will have a lot more batting depth, and he can also win matches for his side single-handedly. One of his most sensational knocks in the IPL 2025 season was when he smashed a blistering half-century off just 19 balls. He could also guide Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma in terms of how to battle through the middle overs or how to handle batting collapses early on. He would add great value to the side with his dynamic fielding skills and could also maybe bowl an over or two.

As the Chennai Super Kings gear up to take on the Delhi Capitals this Saturday, they will be a lot more confident side going into the encounter with Dewald Brevis back in the side. Despite having lost 3 games on the trot, the champion team will be looking to reignite their hopes for the season and potentially battle for a spot at the top of the table.
