Punjab Kings were up against Gujarat Titans in their opening match of the season at Mullanpur. It was Gujarat Titans who were batting first and posted a total of 162/6 in the first innings. Punjab Kings lost the wicket of opener Priyansh Arya early but Cooper Connolly on his IPL debut stole the show as he played some terrific shots to put the pressure on the opposition. It was a terrific shot from the Australian all-rounder as he deposited Rashid Khan deep in the stands for a massive 103 meter six. It was a stunning shot which left the bowler and everyone on the field surprised. Cooper Connolly gave it enough elevation as the ball flew into the stands and it was a terrific shot.

On his PBKS and IPL debut, Cooper Connolly scored a half century to lead PBKS to a commanding position against Gujarat Titans. He looked in good touch and showed positive intent throughout the innings. He smashed 5 sixes in his knock and it was an excellent debut for the youngster. He then went on to anchor the innings and ensured that his team got past the line with his unbeaten knock.

Punjab Kings have put up a dominant performance and continued from where they left off last season. They put up a splendid bowling performance to reduce Gujarat Titans to 162/6 in the first innings. It was a below par total and in the chase the PBKS batters played fearless cricket and got them ahead of the rate. They lost wickets in clusters but the calm head of Cooper Connolly ensured that they got past the line. It was a dream debut for the Australian youngster. Punjab Kings will be keen to go all the way this season and they have a very strong squad.
