Sunrisers Hyderabad registered a dominant 47-run victory over Delhi Capitals in Match 31 of IPL 2026, credit to a clinical bowling performance led by Eshan Malinga. Defending a massive total of 242/2, SRH bowlers stepped up under pressure, with Malinga delivering a match-winning spell that dismantled Delhi’s middle order.

Chasing a daunting target, Delhi Capitals got off to a shaky start and never quite recovered despite a few fighting knocks. Nitish Rana played an aggressive innings of 57 off just 30 balls, while Sameer Rizvi contributed 41 runs. However, the lack of partnerships hurt DC as wickets kept falling at regular intervals.

The turning point of the match came with Eshan Malinga’s exceptional spell. The young pacer picked up four crucial wickets, finishing with impressive figures of 4/32 in his four overs. His ability to strike at key moments ensured that Delhi Capitals never built any real momentum in the chase.

Here’s what fans said about the bowler

Malinga’s first breakthrough came at a crucial stage when he dismissed David Miller for a duck, putting immediate pressure on DC. He then went on to remove Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma, both of whom were looking dangerous. His final wicket further dented Delhi’s hopes, sealing a memorable performance.

Supporting Malinga well, Harsh Dubey chipped in with three wickets, while Dilshan Madushanka and Sakib Hussain picked up one wicket each. The collective bowling effort ensured Delhi Capitals were restricted to 195/9 in their 20 overs.

Earlier in the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad had put up a batting masterclass, posting a mammoth total of 242/2. Their top order dominated the Delhi bowlers, setting up the perfect platform for their bowlers to defend.

This victory strengthens SRH’s position in the IPL 2026 points table and highlights their all-round strength. Eshan Malinga, in particular, has emerged as a key player for the franchise with his impactful performances.

With this win, Sunrisers Hyderabad continue their strong run in the tournament, moving to fourth position on the points table.
