It’s bad if you lose a game or two in the IPL. But it’s quite distressing when your own loyal fans seem to pose doubt over your abilities as a team and don’t seem to inspire much confidence in your own unit. The latter, it appears, is the sad truth with the famous and once iconic Chennai Super Kings, a team that created a legendary aura in the famous franchise based competition.
Alas, those days now seem a distant memory from somewhere back in the past.
The same sentiments surfaced to life when just in the aftermath of CSK enduring their second successive defeat in the IPL 2026 edition, this time to Punjab, saw a die hard fan make some interesting observations about the famous team. Observations that do beckon some introspection.

Following Chennai Super Kings’s five-wicket loss to Punjab Kings at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, a fan outside the venue expressed disappointment with the team’s performance.
“Nothing much to say about the match. It felt like things didn’t quite come together.
Ruturaj Gaikwad is still settling into the captaincy role, and the bowling unit had an off day. Even a big total might have been difficult to defend given how things went,” the fan said.
The supporter also felt that the bowling attack lacked some energy on the field, adding to the team’s challenges during the game.
