Defending a massive target of 220 runs set by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Akash Maharaj Singh was handed the brand-new ball to open the bowling. His night began disastrously against RR's explosive opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal. Akash bowled a wide down the leg side that went completely past the keeper, resulting in 5 wides to start the innings. Jaiswal ruthlessly took him apart, smashing four consecutive boundaries. He crunched two through the leg side and two through the off side with effortless power. A boundary-line misfield on the final ball capsized the over further, resulting in an incredibly expensive 23 runs from his first 6 balls. Jaiswal walked away grinning, having firmly established psychological dominance.
With RR blazing to 71/0 at the end of the Powerplay, LSG was desperate. Captain Rishabh Pant threw the ball back to Akash Maharaj Singh for the 7th over, a high-risk move given his earlier hammering. Jaiswal tried to pick up right where he left off, confidently slashing another boundary through the off-side early in the over. However, Akash didn't lose his nerve. He went back to his basics. Akash bowled a good-length delivery with an upright seam, pitching it just outside the off-stump line. Jaiswal (on 43 off 23 balls) looked to play another expansive, horizontal-bat drive but was deceived by a hint of late away-movement. The ball grazed the outside edge of Jaiswal's bat and flew straight into the gloves of keeper Rishabh Pant, breaking a dangerous 75-run opening stand.Following the dismissal, he simply celebrated normally with his Lucknow Super Giants teammates without pulling out the paper chit or flashing a handwritten note to the cameras like he did in the previous game.

Yashasvi Jaiswal misses out on half century
Yashasvi Jaiswal missed out on a well-deserved half-century, getting dismissed for 43 runs off 23 balls. Serving as the stand-in captain for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), Jaiswal got the daunting 221-run chase off to a flyer. He dominated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) powerplay attack, smashing 8 boundaries and 1 six. He was particularly brutal against Mohsin Khan in the 4th over, milking him for 19 runs with a sequence of 6, 4, 4, 4.Just as he looked poised for a massive score, he went hard at an off-pace, good-length ball from Akash Singh. He got an outside edge that was safely taken by keeper Rishabh Pant.
Despite losing Jaiswal for 43, the foundation was unshakeable. The 15-year-old sensation converted a slow start (11 runs off 12 balls) into a blistering 23-ball half-century. During this specific onslaught, Sooryavanshi cleared the boundary enough times to hit 48 sixes in IPL 2026, breaking Jos Buttler's 2022 franchise record (45) for the most sixes hit by a Royals batter in a single season. Akash Singh’s figures were completely ruined by the double-assault from Jaiswal and Sooryavanshi, finishing with an expensive 1/54 in 3 overs.
