Trent Rockets All-rounder Georgia Adams picked up two wickets in two balls at Trent Bridge on Monday to help restrict Southern Brave to 117 for 5. Adams first trapped Maia Bouchier lbw for 38. The England batter shaped for a reverse sweep, missed a full ball on middle and off, and was plumb. One ball later in the next set she knocked over Jodi Grewcock first ball. It was a length delivery that straightened just enough to beat the bat and knock back off stump. Southern Brave were going well but her spell where she took two wickets in the space of a few deliveries completely shifted the momentum. Her performance with the ball helped restrict Brave for 117. It was a nervy chase but they managed to get the job done and that sent Trent Rockets straight through to the Women’s Hundred final.
Georgia Adams finished with figures of 2 for 14 from 20 balls and was the pick of the Trent Rockets bowlers. Southern Brave never really recovered from this blow. Lizelle Lee had made a solid 31 and Laura Wolvaardt contributed 24, but the middle order couldn’t get going and they limped to 117. The chase was tough. Trent Rockets collapsed to 10 for 3 in the powerplay which is the lowest in the history of the women’s competition and looked in all sorts of trouble. Ashleigh Gardner held things together with 37 before Nat Sciver-Brunt produced a calm 32 off 19 balls to get them over the line with two balls to spare.

Trent Rockets' Georgia Adams was run out in unfortunate fashion after Southern Brave's Sarah Glenn fumbled a drive from Nat Sciver-Brunt and deflected the ball on to the stumps. Adams was dismissed for 10 off 7 balls. She had shared a good partnership with Nat Sciver-Brunt after Rockets recovered from a dreadful powerplay (the lowest in the tournament’s history at 10-3). She was backing up for a quick single when Sciver-Brunt drove the ball hard back towards the bowler. Sarah Glenn, the Southern Brave spinner fumbled the chance and the ball deflected off her and crashed into the stumps at the non-striker’s end.
Adams could not scramble back in time and was run out, walking off with a wry smile at the sheer bad luck of the moment. The freak dismissal came with Rockets still needing a manageable total. Sciver-Brunt went on to make a decisive 32 off 19 balls (Player of the Match) before she herself was run out late in the piece. Georgia Elwiss and Kim Garth then finished the job as Rockets reached 118-7 with two balls to spare, sealing a three-wicket win and confirming their direct place in the final. The win confirmed Rockets as table-toppers and guaranteed them a direct route to Lord’s on Sunday. Brave will now wait to see who they face in the eliminator.
