The Hardik Pandya that we see today perhaps may not be packing a punch. And that’s not just down to the fact that, at present, he’s far from being fit or the very fact that he’s currently undergoing a dense and closely monitored rehabilitation program in India on his way to recovery and to find himself back for selection in the Indian squad. The fact that along with injury, there’s also been an evident lack of form as seen in the IPL (held earlier) with the ever able and usually charged up all rounder seeming lacklustre and out of headlines also makes the narrative around him somewhat bleak. It’s not too optimistic, to put it mildly.

And guess what happened recently about Hardik Pandya that’s been dominating headlines? Of lately, there’s been this hush hush rumour about the experienced and capable all rounder wanting to move back to his previous outfit in the Indian Premier League.

At present, and since the last 2-3 seasons, he’s been with the famed Mumbai Indians side but in truth, he’s hardly looked the part of a cricketer who’s putting forth compelling or dominant performances.

As a matter of fact, Hardik Pandya’s captaincy this time around led Mumbai Indians to a state of what could be called a debacle of sorts with the famous and mighty side finishing among the bottom dwellers as the season drew to a close.

Where it comes to him deciding his own future, it’s largely beloved and is no longer a surprise that Hardik Pandya desires a future in the league with his former team: Gujarat Titans.

Hardik Pandya’s former stint

It was back in the 2022 and 2023 seasons where he even captained the franchise and stayed with the team for no fewer than 31 games. Ever since then, there’s been a dip in performances and who knows, maybe even in his personal happiness in the Mumbai Indians stint.

But now, there’s a few news websites that are pointing to the fact that the credible all rounder who can easily swing a contest towards his team given sheer talent may not be able to move back to GT. The reason, it could be believed, is the sole condition that the Gujarat born cricketer has put forth for that big switch to happen.

Why Gujarat Titans have seemingly denied the big switch?

And it’s the fact that Hardik Pandya has insisted on being made the captain of the side should there be a future with the mighty Gujarat Titans side again. And for that to happen, it simply means that their current leader, Shubman Gill, will have to step aside to make way for the veteran of Indian cricket.

But while that’s even fair or the right call isn’t up to us fans to decide- it appears as though that this, pretty much is the condition that Pandya has put forth. All of which seems to be making it hard for the talented cricketer to move back to his formerly IPL outfit.
