
Harmanpreet Kaur stated that she is excited to prepare for the Olympics as cricket was added to the games recently. The Indian skipper believes that this will be a huge achievement for the sport as she has seen many of the Indian athletes preparing for the greatest sporting event in the world. To get an opportunity to feature for India in the Olympics would be a priceless moment for the world-cup winning captain and she even dreamed of it in her childhood. As Olympics is one of those events that attract attention worldwide from the viewers, Harmanpreet Kaur stated that this could inspire many across the world.
"Very excited, because growing up I have seen so many athletes preparing for the Olympics. But sadly at that time cricket was not part of that, but now I am very excited that you know we are also going to prepare for the Olympics. I think it's a big achievement for the sport; Hopefully we will take cricket worldwide where we can inspire young people,” stated Harmanpreet Kaur on playing in the Olympics. The Indian skipper seemed excited about the opportunity to represent the nation in the Olympics as it was her dream.

Kaur hopes to create history on cricket's Olympic debut
Harmanpreet Kaur stated that she had seen many Punjabi athletes growing up, winning medals for the country. She added that she wanted to represent India in Olympic sport but at that time cricket wasn’t included in the Olympic sports. Now, with cricket included in the list of Olympic sports, the Indian skipper has a great opportunity in her hands to make a mark for the country in the sport.
”Growing up you know I heard a lot about Milkha Singh, he was a great athlete from Punjab, and there were so many other athletes from Punjab who were part of the Olympics and won medals for our country. So yeah, it was a dream that one day you know wanted to represent India in Olympic sport. Sadly at that time cricket wasn't, but now we have a great opportunity,” added Harmanpreet Kaur.
The Indian skipper is at the end of her career and she is grateful of all the opportunities that have been coming her way. She will already go down in the history books of Indian cricket as one of the greatest captains as she led the Indian side to world cup glory in the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. Harmanpreet Kaur would be looking forward to add to her trophy collection with one more title to her name.
“I think it is a very big thing. I know you have to be very passionate, and show so much patience about that and I think it's a very big platform. If you do well there, you will be remembered forever. People are going to remember your entire life. Hopefully you know we'll have a really good opportunity to go there and enjoy ourselves,” stated Harmanpreet Kaur.
