Industrialist Harsh Goenka has been known for his unfiltered cricket opinions, and this has landed him on the receiving end of fans’ criticism. However, that has never stopped the avid cricket fan in him from talking his mind. Recently, the RPG Group chairperson once again grabbed the attention on social media with his bold predictions about IPL captaincy of a few teams. Notably, the ongoing 2026 season of the T20 tournament that kicked off on March 28, is moving towards its business end.

As the remaining eight teams are fighting for their spot in the top four, Goenka dropped a big prediction for the upcoming season. “I can safely predict that at least four IPL captains may not be leading their teams next season… and a couple could even step aside before this season ends. Which four you can guess - but it’s fairly obvious!,” Goenka stated on X.

Though he didn’t name any captain or the franchise, a few names are clearly understandable.

Who are the four IPL captains likely to be sacked before the IPL 2027 season?

While the Indian industrialist didn’t name anyone, a few names can be figured out considering their team’s performance this season. In fact, looking at the past two seasons, Lucknow Super Giants’ Rishabh Pant and Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel might be on the top of the list. Pant was roped in for a record price of INR 27 crore, but the wicketkeeper-batter has been a major flop for the side in both the seasons. Apart from a poor performance from the bat, Pant has not been able to guide the side as a skipper.

The Super Giants finished at the bottom of the standings with three wins in 11 games and have been knocked out of the playoffs race. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, haven’t been doing too well. Though they recorded a crucial win over Punjab Kings in their most-recent game, the Capitals haven’t been able to finish the season as they started from the last two years. In addition to these two, Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya could be the third name in Goenka’s list.
