Young Rajasthan Royals sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has already created headlines with his fearless batting, and the 14-year-old is now setting his sights on one of the biggest records in the history of the Indian Premier League.
Suryavanshi made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals during the 2025 season and quickly became one of the most talked-about young cricketers in the tournament. In only his second match, played against the Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the teenage prodigy stunned the cricketing world by smashing the second-fastest century in IPL history.
At just 14 years of age, the explosive knock made him one of the youngest players to achieve such a milestone in the tournament and instantly turned him into a fan favourite.
Targets Chris Gayle’s historic IPL innings
Ahead of the upcoming IPL season starting on March 28, 2026, Suryavanshi made his ambitions clear during the BCCI Naman Awards held on March 15, 2026.
During a stage interaction, veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle asked the youngster which major IPL milestone he would like to break in the future. The options included hitting six sixes in an over, scoring the fastest century in IPL history, or surpassing the record for the highest individual score in an IPL innings.
Without hesitation, Suryavanshi chose the third option — breaking the legendary 175-run record set by Chris Gayle.
The iconic innings by Chris Gayle remains the highest individual score ever recorded in the IPL and is widely considered one of the greatest T20 knocks in cricket history. For a 14-year-old cricketer to openly aim for such a monumental milestone shows the confidence and fearless mindset he carries.
With the new IPL season just around the corner, fans will be eager to see how the young Rajasthan Royals batter performs in his second campaign. If his debut season was anything to go by, Suryavanshi has already shown that he has the talent and temperament to chase the biggest records in the game.
