Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh lauded Shubman Gill’s knock against RCB and labelled it as classy. Notably, Gill-led Gujarat Titans recorded a four-wicket win over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Ahmedabad on Thursday, April 30. During the clash, home skipper Gill played a crucial 43-run knock off 18 balls to give the hosts a favorable start. Though the 2022 champions kept losing wickets, and couldn’t record a big-margin win despite a modest total, Gill’s innings came off as a crucial push.
Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian cricketer, took to X and lauded Gill’s knock via an Instagram story. The 2011 World Cup winning star posted a picture of the modern-day batting sensation from the game, and captioned it, “Class Gill, well played.” For the unversed, several young cricketers from Punjab, including Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Anmolpreet Singh, and Prabhsimram Singh, have been mentored by Singh. Though the 44-year-old isn’t a professional coach, he has been a mentor to them all.

Feels very satisfying: Shubman Gill reflects on victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru
The 26-year-old batter who became the first player to smash 100 sixes for Gujarat Titans, reflected on the win over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Speaking during the post-match innings, Gill called it, “very satisfying.” He added, “On a wicket like this, restricting a team like them under 160 was a tremendous job by the bowlers.”
He also talked about the reasons behind the victory and said that their fielding played a crucial role. “I think our fielding was one of the things, it's something I think at phases, we haven't fielded that well in the game. And I think today was one of those days, everyone came together. The energy in the field was very, very nice, especially after the second over, Virat bhai hit us for some runs and how we all came back together. That was very crucial for us,” Gill admitted.
India’s ODI captain also talked about his own innings and said, “I was just feeling like I was in the zone and on the first ball, I got a bit lucky. And the second one, I got in my zone, so I was like, okay, maybe today's my day, you know. I was feeling really well. I was feeling confident. So I was like, I want to take the bowlers on.”
The Titans are seeded fifth in the standings with 10 points from five wins in nine games. Up next, they will clash against Punjab Kings in their IPL 2026 season opener on Sunday, May 3.
