Interestingly, under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, India didn't lost a single bilateral series and also ended up winning Asia Cup. However, since the T20 World Cup has started, Indian team hasn't really been able win convincingly and even lost their first game of Super 8 against South Africa - which eventually raised eyebrows.
A few ex-cricketers and commentators have questioned the place of a few players - while the others have questioned the captain Suryakumar Yadav. On this, former England captain and current commetator made a big statement on the team management and selectors. He said, "I would say India would be stupid if they remove Suryakumar Yadav from captaincy post 2026 T20 World Cup"
It will be interesting to see what happens next. However, currently, it doesn't look like that Indian team will tinker with their captain - especially when other aspects of the team are looking haywire. The top order isn't firing, the confusion still remains between Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson. The confusion still remains on many aspects currently.
In the tournament thus far, India won 4 out of 4 matches in the Group Stage, while losing their first game against South Africa at Super 8 of T20 World Cup 2026. India will play their next game against Zimbabwe on 26th February in Chennai.
