The tussle between BCCI, ICC and BCB seems to be a never-ending issue. As per reports from ESPN Cricinfo, on Tuesday there was a virtual call between the ICC and BCB where Bangladesh Cricket Board raised concerns about the security in India and asked the ICC to move their matches out of India. In reply to this request, ICC have told the BCB that Bangladesh will need to travel to India to play the T20 World Cup or they will risk forfeiting points. However there has been no official confirmation by BCCI or BCB regarding the call that took place on Tuesday. This new controversy has come with less than a month to go for the T20 World Cup 2026.

“The Board will continue constructive engagement with the ICC and relevant event authorities in a cooperative and professional manner to arrive at an affable and practical solution that ensures the smooth and successful participation of the team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The BCB remains firmly committed to placing the highest priority on the safety, security and well-being of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team,” the BCB said in a statement.

It is highly likely that ICC will deny the change of venue for Bangladesh and the only option at the moment for Bangladesh is to seek clearance from its government to travel for the tournament. There is also a probability in case of Bangladesh refusing to turn up, a different team will be called in. The BCB declined to have been given such ultimatums.
