The International Cricket Council (ICC) has handed an eight-year ban to USA’s Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy for the breach of Anti-Corruption Code. The Indian-origin player has been banned from all forms of cricket for three breaches of the ICC code. His suspension has been backdated to November 21, 2025, when he was provisionally suspended and will run until November 2033. Charges against him are linked to the 2025 edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament in the UAE, for which the ICC served as the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (DACO) on behalf of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB).
Handing him the suspension, the global cricket governing body said, “USA player Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy has been banned from all cricket for eight years after he was found guilty by an ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal of breaching three counts of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.” Notably, the 26-year-old has represented the USA in four T20Is and has one wicket to his name. He made his international debut against the Cayman Islands in the North America T20 Cup.
Reddy, raised in Hyderabad, India, has also played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well as has had a stint as a net bowler in the Indian Premier League for the SunRisers Hyderabad. However, he made a switch to USA cricket to pursue opportunities at the international level.
Which ICC Anti-Corruption Codes has Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy Violated?
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), Reddy has been found guilty for breaching these codes.
Article 2.1.1 – Attempting to fix, contrive or otherwise influence improperly, or being party to an agreement or effort to fix or contrive in any way or otherwise influence improperly, the result, progress, conduct or other aspect of matches in the ADT10 2025.
Article 2.1.4 - soliciting, inducing, enticing, instructing, persuading, encouraging or intentionally facilitating (or attempting to do the former) another Participant to breach Article 2.1.1 of the Code in one or more Matches in the ADT10 2025.
Article 2.4.7 – Obstructing the DACO’s investigation through deletion of data and messages from a mobile device which may have been relevant to the DACO’s investigation.
Notably, this is not the first instance when a USA cricketer has been banned by the ICC in recent times. Before Reddy, Aaron Jones, a member of USA’s team that made it to the Super Eight of T20 World Cup 2024 was handed a provisional suspension for alleged fixing during the BIM10 League in Barbados in the 2023-24 season.
