“I’ll Say 55-45” - Former India captain predicts winner of IND vs SA T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 clash

India is set to play their first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 on Sunday, 22 February, against South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Both teams are undefeated in this tournament as of now, and the match is going to be an exciting clash between two strong teams. Ahead of the game, the former Indian captain Kris Srikkanth predicted the winner of the match.

The former India captain Kris Srikkanth, who led the Indian cricket team from 1989 to 1990, predicted the winner of the India vs South Africa Super 8 clash. While talking on “Cheeky Cheeka," Srikkanth backed India with a slight edge to win over South Africa in the Super 8. He also pointed out that Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy will be crucial for the team against the strong batting lineup of the Proteas.

Srikkanth said, "Bumrah and Varun's spell will be very important. Look at South Africa's batting. They are all big hitters. It will be good if we get three of those top six soon; otherwise, it will become an interesting match. I will not say it will be an easy win for both. I will say 55-45 for India."

He also agrees that Sanju Samson was given his chances before the World Cup and the team needs Abhishek in the Super 8. He said, "Our middle order has not yet clicked. Abhishek Sharma has not yet clicked. Everybody goes through good and bad times. He is the world No. 1. Sanju was given a fair run too. It's not like he was dropped immediately. He could not capitalize on the chances. I am sure Abhishek's contribution in the Super 8s will be key for India."

Kris Srikkanth has also predicted that both India and South Africa will qualify for the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
