Indian Women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur struggled to get going against Australia Women in the first ODI match at Allan Border Field. Despite scoring a half century in the match she was criticized heavily on social media for her slow batting. The Indian captain did not show any intent out in the middle as she finished with 53 runs of 84 balls. Her knock included only three fours and she went at a strike rate of just 63 in the innings. India Women were bowled out for 214 in the first innings but the biggest talking point was the lack of intent from Harmanpreet Kaur. After this knock plenty of fans took it to social media and in this article we will look at how twitter reacted to this innings.

No intent by Harmanpreet Kaur at all. She is batting at 21 by playing 40 balls close to 50 strike rate. This is helping the Aussies build pressure on them. And Smriti throws her wicket trying to attack! The last boundary had come into the 15th over, now we are running into the…

Harmanpreet Kaur came in the middle when India Women were in early trouble at 52/3. She stitched a partnership with Smriti Mandhana as they took India’s total to 100 before Smriti departed. Smriti Mandhana scored 58 runs off 68 balls and was batting positively on a good surface.
This Indian inning never took off; barring Smriti Mandhana, none looked comfortable. Harmanpreet Kaur scored a laborious 53(84). Pitch played its part, and AUSW bowlers were disciplined, but still it's not looking like a 214-run track. pic.twitter.com/ca1gigHR8D

Harmanpreet Kaur started her innings well scoring eight runs off the first ten balls but after that she went into a shell and began playing very slow. From that stage, Harmanpreet could score only seven runs of her next 20 balls and post that India started to lose wickets. Some of the users compared this to KL Rahul’s knock when he played the Final of the 2023 WC.

India Women were reduced to 140/6 as Richa Gosh was dismissed. Kashvee Gautham who was batting lower down the order and showed very good intent in the partnership with Kaur. Kashvee ended her innings with 43 runs of 44 balls and was the aggressor in her partnership with Harmanpreet. It was a real struggle for the Indian captain as she put more pressure on herself by not showing intent. Harmanpreet Kaur completed her half century in 79 balls and later was dismissed for 53 as she tried to take on Gardner. It was a knock that had no real intent and ended up tamely as India were bowled out for just 214.
