Once a cricket legend, always a cricket legend. The same could be said about MS Dhoni, former member of the Indian team and a multiple World Cup winning cricketer who besides being an inspirational captain was someone who led by an example and kept a cool head over his shoulders. Now, right ahead of the much awaited and richly anticipated T20 World Cup, which is being hosted by India, here’s what MS Dhoni, who helped India seal the 2007 T20 World Cup crown (besides the 2011 odi title), has had to say in the context of the host’s chances at taking a shot at the title bid and truth be told, the legendary late order right hander’s analysis isn’t something that’s too far off from reality- or so would the fan hope-
Declaring the fact that India are “one of the most dangerous teams” participating in the soon-to-begin T20 World Cup 2026, MS Dhoni sort of pointed clearly at or, at the very least, alluded to the team that has a great chance at lifting the World Cup title. Lest we forget, the team that won the last or most recent edition of the famed crown was none other than Team India given its heroic title triumph in the West Indies against South Africa as seen at Barbados back in 2024.
This time around, as well, with several in form batters such as Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and captain Suryakumar Yadav (back among the vital runs), India definitely seem to have the flair and the firepower to deliver at the mother of all cricketing battles.
What do you reckon! Mahi, as Dhoni is famously called, further added that whatever that’s needed in a good team to make it seem complete, is what India already has.

But time will decide as to how comes on top. For now, the safest bet is placed on India being the avid and consistent cricketing powers. Perhaps even a team like an Australia or England, usually the big two (the other two) or even two time World Cup winners West Indies tend to fall short on the confidence that India are flexing at the highest annals of the game.
What would you reckon? Dhoni’s careful analysis, fanboyish in the tone that it may seem, are anything but mere notions; India have been in scintillating form of lately and the manner of their triumph over the BlackCaps from New Zealand does further inspire confidence in the team’s wide gamut of talents!
